Taxi Palava

Now there is this part or seat in a taxi that people don’t usually like to sit if they had their own way.
Only on occasions where they have no option that people usually sit at that side of the taxi. Older people actually think the younger ones should be the custodians of that part of the taxi so much that they see the younger ones as showing disrespect when they don’t owe that part and sit there.

It’s especially interesting when you form a long and unmoving queue all in the name of waiting for a taxi home, and then finally a taxi comes around and people are actually choosy of where to sit and begin to quarrel if they do not get the exact place they wanted to sit in the taxi.

It’s funny because these same people were some minutes ago complaining of being tired of standing in a long queue and hoping that even a ‘rickety trotro’ would appear from somewhere and pick them home. Funny life!

It gets funnier when someone refuses to board the taxi because he/ she didn’t get to sit at the place they wanted to and this same person will also not allow someone else to board the taxi because he/ she came before that person (Konogo kaya). And the only way he/ she would board the taxi is when the one sitting at his/ her ‘chosen’ place gets down and allows him/ her to sit there.

It’s most funny when the driver of the car refuses to move the car unless all four passengers are on board and then goes ahead to turn off the engine…hehehe…Interesting life!
I keep asking myself why people don’t like to sit at that part of a taxi because I don’t usually see people being choosy with trotros. People just jump onto a trotro even when it’s moving and make themselves comfortable on any of the seats.

It’s amazing because if there should be anything like choosing where to sit in a commercial car then people should rather be choosy with trotros and not taxis. Why? Yes because I think trotros offer people with a lot of choices in terms of where to sit because it has more seats available as compared to a taxi where you know it’s either on any of the four seats p3.
And so why are people so choosy when it comes to taxis (not a hired one but one that operates like a trotro)? And get so mad when they are left to sit at that part too?

You usually see disappointment and unpleasantness written all over the faces of those who sit at that part of the taxi…And when they are actually carrying one or two big bags…hehehe…its war all the way…lol.

They refuse to smile or engage in any conversation that maybe going on in the taxi. And they are the ones who usually get irritated when music is being played in the car and complain that the music is too loud and so the driver should put it off (not to turn it down mpo).

People who get angry because they were made to sit at that part of the taxi usually do not pay their fare unless they get down from the taxi, and delay the other passengers by using over 30 minutes to look for their monies in their bags or pockets lol…your guez is as good as mine; they end up bringing out a big sum of money that the driver has to turn off the engine again and go in search of change, further delaying the other passengers…hehehehehe…oh life!

…the middle seat at the back of a taxi is what I’m talking about…lol
